Hello,

Finally, after many weeks of development and testing, the PHP Classes site non-personalized content is available for mirroring.

This means that the site pages may now be served from mirror sites around the world, possibly from a server closer to your network instead of just the main site, thus off-loading its server.

For now, there are just a few mirrors but soon there will be more. The more the traffic is diverted to mirror sites the faster it will become the service to everybody.

Hello,

Recently I have realized that the authors of the packages uploaded to the PHP Classes site have been spammed by entities unrelated to the site.

The site was not hacked nor any private information was disclosed. It seems that somebody has crawled over the site pages and grabbed the authors e-mail addresses.

Since I should have figured that someday that could happen, I would like to apologise to you if you have been exposed to the spam.

Hello,

Finally the PHP Classes site was moved to a new host server. This time is a server that is part of a project yet to be publically revealed that meant to host Open Source projects like this.

The good part is that it is a Linux 2.4.x based server that is for now not so busy as the Solaris 2.8 virtual server where it used to be hosted. So the site should really fly now!

Hello,

First of all, I would like to thank to Larry Rosenman for promptly providing the server and his free time so that newsletters like this and the notification messages could be delivered to the PHP Classes site subscribers like yourself. In the name of the site subscribers, thanks again Larry.

Hello,

As you may have noticed, I have just uploaded a class that provides replacements for functions that PHP developers have broken their original behaviour recently before PHP 4.1.0 . The functions already known to be broken are dirname and strtok.

If you have classes that depend on the original behaviour of these functions, you may want to check if your classes may also have been broken due to these changes.

If you did not notice the class with fixed functions, please take a look here:

Hello,

Several users have suggested the addition of discussion foruns for each class so users can ask questions and share related information.

However, Web based foruns is a resource that may take a lot of load to the site Web server. Despite there were offers to host foruns for each class hosted in the site, I think it is important that foruns appear in the same site where the classes are hosted.
